Alfano, Anthony M.

Anthony Millet Alfano died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the age of 62. Tony is survived by his wife, Milly; three children, Catherine (David), Sarah (Paul), and Anthony (Lindsay); and two grandchildren, Evan and Cate. He was a resident of Lima, OH, but was raised in Richfield, MN. Tony is also survived by his six siblings, Mary (Bob), Kathy (Bob), Joseph (Christine), Ann (Tom), Richard (Catherine), and Robert (Melissa) who are all current residents of Minnesota. Tony was born in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone on June 13, 1946, to Anthony and Catherine Alfano, of Richfield, MN. He attended college at St. Cloud State University (MN) and then began his career in the United States Army. Tony married his college sweetheart, Mildred Van Heel, in 1969. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1976 with a PhD in psychology and continued to serve his country as a psychologist at the VA for 19 years. He has been a practicing pain psychologist in Lima, OH since 1994. He enjoyed taking his family on numerous vacations and traveling around the country in the family RV. He had a love of conversation and throughout his life, he never met a stranger, only new-found friends. Tony was an avid coin collector and an active member of the Lima Noon Optimist Club. Orville H. Melby of Spring Park, formerly of Aitkin. Our loving father was born June 26, 1929 and gently passed away on February 26, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude; father, Nels; his sisters and a brother. Dyrud, Amos O.

Reverend Amos Oliver Dyrud, 93, of Crystal, Minnesota was born on a farm south of Newfolden, Minnesota on June 6, 1915, to Petter Anders Dyrud and Marie Hanson Dyrud, the eighth of nine children. He served our country in WWII in the United States Navy Seabees (CB), on the Islands of St. Lucia and St. Thomas. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator during the construction of the Alaskan Highway. In the fall of 1943, Amos obeyed God’s call into fulltime Christian ministry. He graduated from Augsburg College and Augsburg Theological Seminary, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1949, B.A. and C. T. Ordained 1949; further study L’ Alliance Francaise, Paris, France, 1949; served on the mission field in Madagascar 1950-1969; Association of Free Lutheran Congregations Professor of Practical Theology 1969; Seminary Dean 1971-1981; Interim Pastor of Medicine Lake Lutheran Church 1972-1974. After retiring he continued to teach at the Seminary for several more years. Amos was an active church member, who fervently loved and prayed for the ministries of Grace Free Lutheran Church and Heritage Christian Academy. Amos married Ovidie Marie Evenson of Colfax, Wisconsin, on June 15, 1948. Through this union they are parents to Peter, Naomi, Rebecca and Samuel. Amos went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, February 15, 2009. He is survived by his bride of 61 years, Ovidie; children, Peter (Judy) Dyrud, Naomi (Paul) Hanson, Rebecca Dyrud and Samuel (Mary Jo) Dyrud; grandchildren, Jessica (Ian), Nicholas (Shelley), Andrew (Angela), Benjamin, Sarah (Daniel), Philip (Dena), Josephine (Timothy), Leah (Jacob), David, Paul, Hannah and Rebekah; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Silas, Mary, Brittani, Owen, Liam, Mattias, Annika, Elling and Myah; and many, many, nieces, nephews and loved ones. The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m., Visitation at 1:00 p.m., on the campus of AFLC Schools 3120 East Medicine Lake Blvd, Plymouth, MN, 55441.
