Anthony Millet Alfano died Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the age of 62. Tony is survived by his wife, Milly; three children, Catherine (David), Sarah (Paul), and Anthony (Lindsay); and two grandchildren, Evan and Cate. He was a resident of Lima, OH, but was raised in Richfield, MN. Tony is also survived by his six siblings, Mary (Bob), Kathy (Bob), Joseph (Christine), Ann (Tom), Richard (Catherine), and Robert (Melissa) who are all current residents of Minnesota. Tony was born in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone on June 13, 1946, to Anthony and Catherine Alfano, of Richfield, MN. He attended college at St. Cloud State University (MN) and then began his career in the United States Army. Tony married his college sweetheart, Mildred Van Heel, in 1969. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1976 with a PhD in psychology and continued to serve his country as a psychologist at the VA for 19 years. He has been a practicing pain psychologist in Lima, OH since 1994. He enjoyed taking his family on numerous vacations and traveling around the country in the family RV. He had a love of conversation and throughout his life, he never met a stranger, only new-found friends. Tony was an avid coin collector and an active member of the Lima Noon Optimist Club. Mass of Christian Burial 11AM Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Church of St. Richard, 7540 Penn Ave. S., Richfield with visitation one hour prior to Mass at Church. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
