Gladys V. Pearson of Minneapolis, passed away on March 31, 2009 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Pearson. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and a long time employee of Honeywell. She is survived by her brother, Carl A. (Joyce) Olson; sister, Hazel Burditt; nephews, Bruce (Connie) Burditt, Lawrence (Lynn) Olson; nieces, Kathleen (Lee Duerr) Burrington and Nancy (Dwain) Klemmensen. Kathleen Burrington was her faithful caregiver while she was at Walker Care Center. A memorial service will be held at Lakewood Cemetery Chapel at 2PM on Friday, May 1st with visitation beginning at 1:30. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.

Benedict, Marian O.

Marian O. Benedict (nee Anderson) Age 84, of Bloomington. Survived by son, Robert (Pauline); daughter, Jeanne (Tom) McCanna; grandsons, Jason (Lora), Eric and Michael and great-granddaughter, Savannah. Preceded in death by brothers, Bud, Ralph and Glen and sisters, Elaine and Lorraine. Marian is survived by brothers, Vern (Doris) and Gordon (Nancy) Anderson and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends. Marian’s parents, Oscar and Hulda Anderson moved to Bloomington in 1922 and were one of the founding families of the city’s first Lutheran Church – St. Luke’s. The youngest of 8 children, Marian was confirmed at St. Luke’s in 1937 and graduated from Bloomington High School in 1942. During WWII, she worked at Munsingwear making parachutes, Air Parts making wings for aircraft and the Army Signal Corps. In 1947, she married George Benedict. Marian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In later years, she worked at Eagle Nursing Home and was an active member of Bloomington’s Creekside Center. Marian was a lifelong member of St. Luke’s Church and a committed follower of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4 at St. Luke’s Church in Bloomington (1701 West Old Shakopee Road) at 10:30 a.m. Lunch follows. Ralph Gordon Svec of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully March 28, 2009, 61 years young. He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Svec and his mother, Hazel Svec. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts by his loving wife of 36 years, Carol; daughter and son-in-law, Nicole & Louis Yender; son, Kurt Svec; brother, Jerry Svec of Fayetteville, GA and other family and friends. he was blessed with countless friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Ralph was always loving, kind, understanding and helpful. We will always remember his stories and tales. His happiest times were spent at his lake home on Mille Lacs. Ralph was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He served in the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic. He owned Midwest Transmission in South Minneapolis until retirement in 1999. The family wishes to thank all of Ralph’s many compassionate friends for their support and the team of doctors and nursing staff at the VA Medical Center. Mary Alice age 87, of Bloomington, on March 25, 2009. Preceded in death by husband, Edwin. Survived by children, Marie Sharah, Cecilia Smoot, Michael (Anna) Nedry, Theresa (Tom) Wentz; stepdaughter, Jennifer Smith; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Mary was a graduate of the College of St. Catherine. She taught at Nativity of Mary School for 30+ years, teaching 3rd and 4th grade, and started the Kindergarten program. After retiring she took in over 100 foster care children, earning the KARE 11 and Channel 4 Hometown Hero Award. Shirley Ann McDonough, age 83. A long time resident of Bloomington, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Martin Luther Manor in Bloomington, MN. Born Shirley Ann Koenig, to Alphonse and Maude Koenig in Wabasha, MN on December 24, 1925. Married Earl Louis McDonough October 31, 1945. A homemaker and mother, she is survived by her son, Mark Steven McDonough (Lori) and daughter, Holly Ann Stensrud (Rick); grandchildren, Heidi Stensrud, Adam Stensrud (Jill), Brandon Stensrud (Michelle) and Nikki McDonough; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Hayden, Erica & Jackson Stensrud; brother, Robert Koenig and many nieces and nephews. Marlys M. Hansen (nee Huseth) age 81, of Brooklyn Park, died on the first day of spring – 20 March 2009. Survived by children, Stephen (Linda) Hansen, Cheryl (Ernest) Isliker and Kay Hansen; grandchildren, Christy (Fiancé Steve), Heather (Partner Katie), Jada (Partner Katie), Neile (Fiancée Debbie) and great-granddaughter, Lili. Marnie was preceded in death by loving husband, H. Kenneth Hansen and devoted mother, Edna (Allen/ Huseth) Swanson. A generous and compassionate soul, Marnie personified The Golden Rule, touched lives wherever she lived or worked from Camden to Hutchinson to Brooklyn Park to Eden Prairie and showered her family with unconditional love, support and devotion.
