Waldamar P. Buchanan “Wally”
Buchanan, Waldamar P. “Wally” Born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1926, resident of Richfield, MN, died peacefully on July 29, 2009 age 83. Wally graduated from Central High School 1944. He proudly served with the 104th Infantry Division (Timberwolves), during WWII, in the European Arena. Graduating from the U of M with a BA and MA degree, from the College of Education, Wally worked 34 years in the Mpls. Public Schools, as an Elementary Principal and teacher. He enjoyed many life-long friends through social and sports activities. Central HS Reunions and Men’s Club, softball teammates “Breakfast with LeRoy”, BAJ (Born Again Jocks) golf buddies, and ELEMENS (Elementary Men’s Poker Club). Golfing and travel became passionate endeavors throughout his retirement years. Wally truly enjoyed people and pursued life to its fullest. Wally’s handshake was like his word…solid, honest and true! Preceded in death by parents, Peter and Wilhelmine; brother, Donald; son, Sean Michael; Marguerite, the mother of his children; brother-in-law, James Lodahl; nephew, David, who died unexpectedly July 15, 2009. Survived by loving wife, Renee; sons, Timothy, Steven (Christine), Patrick (Sharon); daughters, Michele (Hal Cooke), MaryBeth; sons, Kelly, Blair; Renee’s son, John; grandchildren, Anthony (Chrissy), Jamie Lee, Myles, Sean Cooke, Justin (Janai), Christopher, Amanda; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyshan, Abbie Lee; siblings, Robert (Dorothy), Sidney (Barbara), Dorothy Lodahl, MargaretAnn (Richard Finke); many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday 10:30 AM, Church of St. Peter, 6730 Nicollet Ave S. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to Mass at Church.
