Mary Aline (Speltz) Keller of Bloomington, MN, age 73, born September 13, 1936 in Rollingstone, MN, died on September 28, 2009 from gallbladder cancer. She died peacefully at home surrounded by numerous family members and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James R. Keller; three devoted sons, Christopher of San Francisco, Kevin and partner Gary Stein of Plymouth, Jeffrey and Heidi Welsh Keller of Savage; two grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Keller; three sisters, Mrs. Martha (Demetrios) Demetriou of Eden Prairie, Mrs. Nora (Roger) Pearson of Lone Tree, CO and Mrs. Jane (Lowell) Baerenwald of Eagan; aunts, Mrs. Betty Speltz (Pat) O’Grady of Rochester, MN, and Mrs. Alsadie Preston (Dick) Friedeck of Chippewa Falls, WI; an uncle, Dr. Jerome (Laurine) Speltz of Rochester and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Annabel (Preston) Speltz and Mr. Sylvester Speltz of Rollingstone. Mary graduated in 1957 with a Registered Nurse degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. She cared for the sick for more than 25 years as a nurse at Golden Valley Health Center, and then worked for 20 more years at her hobby for the Minnesota Twins. For forty years she was an active member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and of St. Andrew’s Circle and a constant volunteer at Loaves & Fishes. Mary was the gracious matriarch of a large, extended, vibrant family. She brought joy and love to everyone she met. She lived with cancer with the same optimism and vitality that were the hallmarks of her life. Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave. So., Bloomington, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009, visitation immediately prior to Mass from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Nativity. Private interment at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Nativity of Mary Grade School or charity of donor’s choice. “Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.”
