Keller, Mary Aline (Speltz)

Mary Aline (Speltz) Keller of Bloomington, MN, age 73, born September 13, 1936 in Rollingstone, MN, died on September 28, 2009 from gallbladder cancer. She died peacefully at home surrounded by numerous family members and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, James R. Keller; three devoted sons, Christopher of San Francisco, Kevin and partner Gary Stein of Plymouth, Jeffrey and Heidi Welsh Keller of Savage; two grandsons, Zachary and Joshua Keller; three sisters, Mrs. Martha (Demetrios) Demetriou of Eden Prairie, Mrs. Nora (Roger) Pearson of Lone Tree, CO and Mrs. Jane (Lowell) Baerenwald of Eagan; aunts, Mrs. Betty Speltz (Pat) O’Grady of Rochester, MN, and Mrs. Alsadie Preston (Dick) Friedeck of Chippewa Falls, WI; an uncle, Dr. Jerome (Laurine) Speltz of Rochester and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Mrs. Annabel (Preston) Speltz and Mr. Sylvester Speltz of Rollingstone. Mary graduated in 1957 with a Registered Nurse degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester. She cared for the sick for more than 25 years as a nurse at Golden Valley Health Center, and then worked for 20 more years at her hobby for the Minnesota Twins. For forty years she was an active member of Nativity of Mary Catholic Church and of St. Andrew’s Circle and a constant volunteer at Loaves & Fishes. Mary was the gracious matriarch of a large, extended, vibrant family. She brought joy and love to everyone she met. She lived with cancer with the same optimism and vitality that were the hallmarks of her life. Mass of Christian Burial at Nativity of Mary Catholic Church, 9900 Lyndale Ave. So., Bloomington, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009, visitation immediately prior to Mass from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Nativity. Private interment at a later date at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Nativity of Mary Grade School or charity of donor’s choice. “Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.”

Lobdell, Eunice Marian, Age 88, died September 27, 2009. Preceded in death by husband, Raymond Lobdell and sister, Dorothy Clausen. Survived by sons Gary (Janette), Ken, and John (Kelly Webb) Lobdell; daughter, Dorothy (Bruce) Rubin; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. Spriggs, Phyllis J. (nee Leadon)

Phyllis Joan Spriggs (nee Leadon) age 81, of Minneapolis, born December 2, 1927, died peacefully on September 26, 2009. Phyllis was a joyful and creative teacher to generations of school children in Minneapolis and Fargo, North Dakota. Born in Farmington, Minnesota and raised in Montevideo, Minnesota, Phyllis graduated from the College of St. Catherine in 1949, and began her teaching career at Annunciation School in south Minneapolis. She went on to teach in the Minneapolis Public Schools where she was selected to be one of the first special education teachers in the district in the early 1960s. She focused her career on serving the needs of children with special learning disabilities. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, G. Max Spriggs, her parents, Bernard M. Leadon and Ruth McDonnell Leadon, and her sister Mary Katherine Kramer. Phyllis is survived by her son, Dan Spriggs, Dan’s wife Michelle, and their children, Justice and Raven, along with Phyllis’s step-children, James Spriggs and Ruthie Hasenjaeger. Phyllis is also survived by her siblings, Bernard Leadon, Eugene Leadon, and Marguerite Nolan, and many devoted nieces and nephews, friends and former students. We will miss her sense of fun and excitement with life, her gift of empathy, and her special talent for inspiring each of us. Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009, with a visitation at 10:00 a.m., Annunciation Church, 509 West 54th Street, Minneapolis. Robert M. Wah, age 64 of Minneapolis, passed away September 24, 2009. Preceded in death by parents, Hum and Rachel; half-brother, Jim King; brother-in-law, Jack Billingslea and sister-in-law, Janet Wah. Survived by loving wife of 38 years, Sandy; child, Elliot; siblings, Mae Billingslea, Richard Wah and John (Beverly) Wah; many nieces, nephews and friends. Bob was a sheet metal worker for over 40 years; loved his garage, motorcycle and doing things for others. He was a compassionate and loyal man . . .the best man ever. He will be missed. Harrington, Mary Adeline (nee Halvorson)

Mary Adeline Harrington (nee Halvorson) Age 86, of Richfield. Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and friend. Former longtime resident of Virginia, MN. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on September 20, 2009. Preceded in death by husband Charles P., parents George P. and Mary G. Halvorson, and brother George G. Valedictorian graduate of Washburn H.S., class of 1940. Attended the University of Minnesota, earning Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in History. Commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1944. Recalled to active service during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Awarded a Yale University fellowship in 1955. Taught in Granite Falls, MN, the former Ely (MN) Junior College, and more than 22 years at Roosevelt High School in Virginia, MN. Survived by brother John A., children Joseph (Judith), John (Mary), Thomas (Catherine), Margaret Conroy (William), Mary Armstrong (Ty), and Paul (Jennifer), sixteen grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be remembered by innumerable friends and former students, as well as fellow residents of Gramercy Park Cooperative in Richfield where she resided for the past 8 years. Hautman, James J. Age 85, of Burnsville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sept. 19. Preceded in death by loving wife Bernice, his mother, father, sister, infant grandson and brother-in-law. Survived by children, Barb (Dennie) Kline, Gayle (Jim) Nybo, Jimmy (Linnea), Jo (Tom) Madura, Mark (Nancy Torell), Chris (Jackie Sticha), David (Mary Beth), Bonnie (Keith) Boisner, Lisa (Keith) Olson, Holly (Jim) Reynolds, Scott (Shelby), Mary (Scott) Klans; 39 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joan (Don) Totzke, Shirley (Owen) Johnson and Alice Johnson; many nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends. Attended De La Salle High School, St. Thomas College and Texas Tech. College. Jim served in the Army Air Corp. in WWII.
