Lawrence Joseph Marble (Larry), age 78, of Richfield, MN.
Born July 12, 1931 in Boston, MA. Died peacefully on January 23, 2010.
Survived by 14 children and their spouses, David & Ginger Larson, Paul &
Judy Larson, Tom & Liz Larson, John & Lauri Jo Larson of Scottsdale, AZ,
Liz Larson, Joe & Gretchen Marble, Margi Willmert of Mankato, MN, Theresa
Marble, Pete & Lynn Larson, Anne & Steve Kennedy, Matt & Jennifer Larson,
Cathee & J.B. Holb, Paul & Jessie Marble of Milwaukee, WI, and Annie &
Mark Opitz of Luverne, MN. Also survived by two sisters, Betty Flynn of
Framingham, MA, and Joan Mullen of Columbus, OH, 31 grandchildren and 2
great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews, other relatives and many dear
friends.
Preceded in death by first wife, Mary Esther Clark, second wife, Mary
Elizabeth Miller (Larson), parents, Mildred Johnstone and Lawrence Clifton
Marble, and son-in-law, Randy Willmert.
Larry served in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked
for 47 years as an independent insurance agent, specializing in business
casualty insurance until his retirement in 2003 from ICS Agency.
His hobbies and interests included traveling, especially to holy shrines,
the North Shore and to visit his sister, Betty, and family in
Massachusetts, reading, history, cooking, dining out, sports and doing
crossword puzzles. Larry made friends easily wherever he went and had a
gift for making people feel welcome.
Larry had a passion for volunteering, including hospice care, Loaves and
Fishes, and serving as a Stephen’s Minister. His faith guided his life and
he devoted time each day to prayer and meditation, and attended Mass most
mornings. While Larry faced many health issues, he was known for his
fighting spirit and positive outlook.
Larry always said, “My greatest blessing in life is my family.”
Mass of
Christian Burial on Tuesday, February 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of St
Edward, 9401 Nesbitt Ave. So., Bloomington.
Visitation on Monday, February 1, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Gill Brothers
Funeral Chapel, 5801 Lyndale Ave. So., Minneapolis. and one hour prior to
mass at church.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff with
Fairview, Fairview Hospice and Walker Methodist Care Center.
